There is growing discussion around how geopolitical tensions are affecting not only the energy sector, but also the industrial equipment market. How does this look from the perspective of the heat exchanger industry?
Wojciech Miciak: Absolutely. Today, the heat exchanger market is closely tied to the global economic and political landscape. Any kind of international tension has a direct impact on raw material availability, energy costs, logistics, and customers’ investment decisions. As a result, manufacturers and suppliers need to operate much more efficiently and with far greater agility than they did just a few years ago. On the one hand, we are dealing with pressure and uncertainty. On the other, new opportunities for growth are emerging, especially in areas where energy efficiency and operational security are becoming increasingly important.
In today’s geopolitical environment, customers are asking not only about technical performance, but also about business continuity and supply chain security. How is HEXONIC Heat Exchangers addressing these expectations?
Wojciech Miciak: This has definitely become one of the key topics in conversations with customers. Today, a supplier’s credibility is no longer based solely on product quality. It is equally important whether the company can maintain continuity in a volatile and unpredictable environment. At HEXONIC Heat Exchangers , we have long viewed growth in exactly this way — not only through the lens of increasing sales, but also through building the operational resilience of the entire organization.
Our presence across multiple markets and the development of capabilities outside Europe are part of a deliberately implemented strategy. This allows us to remain flexible and responsible even when conditions in a particular region become more challenging. We now have assembly capabilities outside Europe as well, which significantly strengthens the security of our supply chain. From the customer’s perspective, this means greater stability and reduced risk, even in periods of temporary disruption on the European side.
This is extremely important to us, because we want to be seen not only as a manufacturer of advanced solutions, but above all as a reliable long-term partner. In today’s market conditions, predictability and readiness for different scenarios are becoming some of the most important values a company can offer.
Publicly available market forecasts suggest that the market will grow from USD 2.5 billion in 2026 to USD 4.2 billion by 2033. What is driving that growth?
Wojciech Miciak: Several overlapping trends are behind this growth. First, industries around the world are looking for solutions that reduce energy consumption and lower operating costs. Second, regulatory requirements related to environmental protection and emissions reduction are becoming more demanding. Third, we are seeing dynamic growth in sectors such as HVAC, chemicals, power generation, food processing, and waste heat recovery. Plate and frame heat exchangers are particularly well suited to these needs because they combine high efficiency, compact design, and a high degree of application flexibility.
So it would be fair to say the market is developing not only in volume, but also in quality?
Wojciech Miciak: Definitely. Today, the device itself is no longer enough. Customers expect solutions that are energy-efficient, durable, and easy to maintain. Monitoring, predictive maintenance, and integration with plant automation systems are playing an increasingly important role. A heat exchanger is no longer seen simply as a component within an installation — it is becoming part of a broader system responsible for process efficiency.
You mentioned digitalization. Which technological innovations are currently having the strongest impact on the industry?
Wojciech Miciak: We can clearly see several major directions. The first is the development of advanced plate geometry — modern pressing patterns make it possible to increase flow turbulence and optimize the heat transfer surface, which improves efficiency and enables more compact designs. At the same time, new materials are being developed to improve durability and corrosion resistance.
The second trend is integration with free cooling technologies and renewable energy sources, which enhances the overall energy efficiency of systems.
The third area is digitalization, particularly in smart district cooling. Sensors, monitoring systems, and data analytics make it possible to optimize performance and enable predictive maintenance.

And what role does sustainability play today?
Wojciech Miciak: A very significant one. Sustainability is no longer treated as an add-on to corporate strategy — it has become an integral part of it. Heat exchangers play an important role in reducing energy losses, increasing heat recovery, and improving the efficiency of technological processes. This directly translates into a lower environmental footprint for industrial installations. Customers are also paying increasing attention to equipment durability, upgrade potential, and the broader impact of a given technology on resource efficiency.
The material also strongly highlights regional market differences. In your view, which regions are likely to grow the fastest?
Wojciech Miciak: Globally, Asia-Pacific is growing very strongly, mainly due to rapid industrialization, urbanization, and infrastructure investment. The Middle East and Africa are also becoming increasingly attractive, especially in energy, petrochemicals, and new industrial developments. Europe and North America remain more mature markets, but there the key growth drivers are modernization of existing installations and adapting them to more demanding environmental standards. Every region has its own dynamics, which is why market strategy needs to be tailored accordingly.
Does that mean regional analysis is now becoming one of the most important elements of strategic planning?
Wojciech Miciak: Without a doubt. It is no longer enough to look at the market only through the lens of global trends. You need to understand local conditions — from regulations and energy costs to geopolitical risks and component availability. This level of analysis is what makes it possible to plan expansion, investments, and operational development in a meaningful way. For companies like HEXONIC Heat Exchangers, it also means building structures that can provide customers with stability regardless of what is happening in any particular region.
How are investor and private equity expectations toward the industry evolving in this environment?
Wojciech Miciak: Investors today are looking for companies that combine business stability with growth potential and technological advantage. What matters are engineering capabilities, scalability, and a presence in high-potential markets. The industry is also becoming increasingly attractive from a consolidation perspective, especially where company value can be enhanced through technology upgrades or expansion into new geographic markets.
Which segments of the plate heat exchanger market do you currently see as especially promising?
Wojciech Miciak: I see strong potential in areas linked to energy efficiency, HVAC, the chemical industry, food processing, power generation, and wherever waste heat recovery is becoming more important. Applications connected to the energy transition are also becoming increasingly interesting, including renewable energy and advanced heat management in both industry and buildings. In these areas, heat exchangers play a critical role, both from a cost perspective and in supporting environmental goals.
What are the biggest challenges for manufacturers today?
Wojciech Miciak: Certainly raw material price volatility, cost pressure, rising technical requirements, and the need to respond quickly to a changing regulatory environment. On top of that, there is the ongoing need to invest in product development and capabilities. Today’s customer expects a solution that is reliable, well matched to the process, and ready to perform in a modern industrial environment. That means competitive advantage is no longer built on price alone, but increasingly on quality, service, and the ability to create long-term partnerships.
In that case, what will determine the success of companies such as HEXONIC HEAT EXCHANGERS L.L.C. in the years ahead?
Wojciech Miciak: Three things will define success: more compact solutions, flexibility, and the ability to truly understand customer needs. The industry will continue to grow, but it will also become more demanding. The winners will be the companies that combine engineering expertise with a modern approach to technology and can respond quickly to market changes.
In Hexonic’s case, what matters enormously is that we are growing in a thoughtful and long-term way. Our operational structure has been designed to strengthen the resilience of the organization and reduce risks on the customer side. Thanks to our global presence and assembly capabilities outside Europe, we are able to maintain continuity even under more challenging conditions. And that is exactly why customers see us as a stable, flexible, and trustworthy partner.
Finally, if you had to describe the future of the heat exchanger market in one sentence, how would you put it?
Wojciech Miciak: It will be a strategically important market for modern industry.
